AC-Sun’s mission is to develop and commercialize a thermal air conditioning solution driven by solar panels. AC-Sun now stands before the challenge of transforming this technology into commercial exploitation.
The purpose is to research and develop, design and test small air conditioning devices, which globally will revolutionize the industry, since the concept have not been used or patented globally.
The novelty of the product is great due to considerable power savings (a factor 10), free-of-pollution, silent cooling and better comfort. A world-wide patent for the principles behind the solution has been approved through a PCT testing.
The AC-Sun air condition plant is based on already known thermal processes.
A normal solar collector produces hot water at 80 to 100ºC. The hot water makes steam, which is conducted into an expander (turbine). The expander drives a compressor mounted on the same shaft.
The compressor compresses the steam from the air cooler at a low pressure, which cools the air used for air condition. The produced heat from the cooling unit and solar collector are removed by two air-cooled condensers. |

The technical content consists of research and development of a turbo/expander which is working with water as a process agent under low pressure and temperatures, where the heat production is used in low temperature thermal solar panels, for the transformation to a low temperature compressor, which is used for cooling of air in an air conditioning device.
The success criterion is to exploit a series of thermal processes, which by them selves are well-known, but never previously have been combined to one functioning unit.
Commercial potential on the business idea
Air conditioning is the component in the world today using the most electricity, and is of great importance for emissions of CO 2. The use of energy is largest when the sun provides the most heat. Therefore, it would be adjacent to use solar energy as a cooling agent, excluding use of electricity in the system. The AC-Sun solution will save the environment 25 kg CO 2 per plant every day world wide per unit . Additionally, the electricity cost used on air conditioning for a normal family is reduced to 1/10 of today’s cost , which makes it financially durable for the end consumers.
The AC-Sun solution is novel world wide due to direct electricity savings, clean and silent cooling. The economical basis of AC-Sun is based on sales of know-how as well as the company’s own production of a unique energy converter. The overall business base is development, design and marketing of the AC-Sun solution.
